Comment: We have been coming for years and are never disappointed. The flavors are amazing, the owners lovely and the kids menu always a hit. Also reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Comment: Honestly, a super disappointing experience. Chu Thai is highly rated for large groups, so I booked a table for 11 people 3 weeks in advance. At the time of booking, they informed me they had another booking directly after ours, which was 2 hours after our booking (which I made for 6:30). We arrived at 6:30, and ordered and had drinks by 7:00. Then a waitress came to me and said we had to be finished by 8:00. I apologised and said there must have been a mistake, we had the table until 8:30. We waited for our food for 50 minutes, a few people were served and then an hour after ordering the rest of the table was served. We then only had half an hour for 11 of us to eat our meal. It was incredibly poorly planned on their part - I would really have preferred them to say they were full on the night and not taken my booking. They knew we were coming 3 weeks in advance and had plenty of time to prepare. While the food is good and relatively inexpensive for the area, after the way we were treated and rushed I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and we won't be returning. I brought 11 paying customers to the restaurant only to be hurried out before we'd even finished eating, despite me asking politely for more time as our food was so late. This event was for a friend's birthday, so it was a special night - I would have happily booked somewhere else if they had said they were full.

Comment: Food is ace ?? (bonus extensive vegan menu which is very tasty). I had the Tom Yum soup which was amazing (huge portion, ended up taking half home) and perfect for a chilly night. The staff are fantastic and very efficient. It was very busy (sat evening) so maybe book if you're wanting to go at peak times.

Comment: Really tasty food and very reasonable prices, especially for Ponsonby. We had the cauliflower bites, sticky chicken and panang curry, all was delicious and served hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Have a massive vegetarian and vegan selection. Will be back to try again

Comment: Delicious food and amazing service. They always have the best finishing touches too. They put my birthday cake an a lovely cake stand and played and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday, even in Thai also. That was a first but so sweet of them. Thanks Chu Thai

Comment: I read lots of good reviews and was excited to try Chu eatery. I ordered a green vegetable curry with tofu protein. First the good - the curry had good flavour and there was lots of tofu. However the good ends there. The bad - this was supposed to be a vegetable curry with eggplant, bamboo shoot, and green beans. In total I counted 1 piece of broccoli, 2 small pieces of cauliflower, 3 extremely tiny bits of eggplant, 3 small pieces of bamboo shoot, and a grand total of 3 green beans. The worst of it though was the amount of sugar in this dish, it was almost sickly sweet. An entirely underwhelming experience. For the record I wanted to give the restaurant an opportunity to explain - maybe they had an off night...but there is no option to email or text a message through to this restaurant.
